Body Detoxification My Personal Viewpoint
I have been an avid fitness fanatic nearly all my life since I saw a Bruce Lee movie when I was about 12 years old. I devoured every bit of information I could about exercise and strengthening my body and drove my parents to the point of insanity by performing all manner of exercises all around the house at every opportunity I got. The floorboards at the top of the stairs used to get pounded whilst I jogged on the spot; I hooked my feet under the furniture to stabilise myself when performing sit ups; it took me an age to get upstairs as I used each step to do 10 press-ups before moving on to the next one and so on.
I was very naive when it came to diet. I already knew that sweets and sugar were not good for you. So I cut out all sugar from my diet. Shopping for my parents must have been a nightmare. I wouldn’t eat this food or that because it had been processed or contained hidden sugar. I even remember drinking water that had been boiled to purify it. I also knew the importance of fibre or roughage and insisted on sprinkling bran on cereals, on my porridge and even on some of my cooked meals. I was obsessive.
Furthermore I became aware of the spiritual nature of health and used to meditate and do deep breathing exercises. The oriental culture inspired me to strengthen my spirit in this way. It paid off. At school I outperformed most if not everybody in my entire year at athletics, winning an all round award no other student was able to achieve. I was a respected soccer team member, played on the basketball team and captained the athletics team.
